Medicare Supplements

Many new Medicare subscribers are surprised to learn that Medicare covers only 80% of Part B expenses. The remaining 20% can be financially devastating if you’re affected by a serious illness. Medicare Supplement plans can pay some or all of the remaining 20%, giving you peace of mind by eliminating extra costs.

Medicare Supplement plans, also referred to as Medigap plans, cover 10 million Medicare beneficiaries, helping to pay for your share of Medicare expenses. Also called “Cadillac plans,” Medicare Supplements typically leave you with little to no co-pay or deductible when you go to a doctor or hospital. Keep in mind that there are many different plan letters, each with a different set of benefits. In general, most consumers choose either a Plan G or a Plan N if they go this route.

The great thing about Medicare Supplements is that they are “standardized,” meaning that every company has to offer the same plan benefits — you can buy the same plans in all 50 states and from different carriers. For example, a Plan G with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield will have the same benefits as a Plan G with United Healthcare.
